Decisions, experiments and the development history behind Adaptive Training.
The starter program is available.
Four training phases, flexible pathways, illustrated exercises and private logs are live. The private adaptive trainer pilot is now available by invitation. The timeline below records how the methodology developed.

The starter program is now available
A free twelve-week program now puts the adaptive training methodology into practice, with flexible pathways, illustrated exercises and private logs.
Development timeline · 14 phases
The phases in development order. Historical dates appear where the original record provides them.
-
Phase 1: The Adaptive Workout Coach
June 2026. The project begins as an adaptive workout coach operating around work, childcare, sleep, and short training windows.
-
Phase 2: The Workout Bank
The Workout Bank makes accumulated training visible through a simple credit ledger.
-
Phase 3: Movement Balance and Movement Debt
Movement Balance and Movement Debt identify patterns that training volume alone can miss.
-
Phase 4: Best Investment
Best Investment reduces decision friction by recommending one highest-return next action.
-
Phase 5: Iron Cardio
Iron Cardio gives a name to sustained, technically sound resistance training with minimal rest.
-
Phase 6: Build, Load, Restore and Capacity
Build, Load, Restore, and Capacity separate training intent from individual exercises.
-
Phase 7: Aerobic Base
Aerobic Base becomes a distinct quality rather than being treated as interchangeable with hard conditioning.
-
Phase 8: The Identity Shift
By August 2026. The central focus shifts from exercise selection to the identity: I am someone who trains.
-
Phase 9: Identity Is Not Enough
Weekly outcome accountability joins daily identity protection to keep consistency moving toward a goal.
-
Phase 10: Finish and Maintain
Finishing and maintaining a result become part of the central principle.
-
Phase 11: Weekly Accountability
Structured weekly reviews connect completed work, recovery, missed training, and the next useful adjustment.
-
Phase 12: From Personal Coach to Methodology
The personal coaching system develops into a methodology with possible applications beyond fitness.
-
Phase 13: Pilot Design
A pilot using prompts, intake, tracking, weekly reviews, and feedback is planned to test behavior and training decisions.
-
Phase 14: The Methodology Site
The public site becomes a record of principles, concepts, experiments, and the evolution toward a product.
How this started
From Workout Coach to Identity-First Training System
Adaptive Training did not begin as a formal methodology.
It began as a practical question:
How do you continue making meaningful fitness progress when work, kids, sleep, time, equipment, motivation, and recovery are constantly changing?
The first version of Adaptive Training was essentially an AI-assisted workout coach and training log. The objective was straightforward: prescribe useful training, track what was completed, and adapt workouts around the realities of everyday life.
Over time, the project exposed a larger problem.
The primary obstacle was not a lack of exercises, programs, equipment, or fitness knowledge.
It was maintaining productive behavior long enough for the desired outcome to actually occur.
That realization gradually changed Adaptive Training from a workout generator into an identity-first adaptive training methodology.
