Another design problem emerged.
Adaptive systems can easily produce too many recommendations.
When a user only has ten additional minutes, a list of six possible exercises creates unnecessary decision-making.
Adaptive Training therefore adopted the Best Investment principle.
At the end of a workout or training day, Adaptive Training should answer one question:
If you have a few more minutes, what is the highest-return training investment you can make?
The recommendation considers:
- current goals
- recent training
- Workout Bank totals
- Movement Balance
- Movement Debt
- recovery
- available equipment
- available time
- training phase
- fatigue
- aerobic needs
Only one recommendation should normally be given.
The system should reduce decision friction rather than create it.
